Overland Recovery Outlines Outpatient Mental Health Treatment Near UCLA

Adult college students can start PHP or IOP care for alcohol or drug use in West Los Angeles, with morning, afternoon and evening tracks

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, November 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- At the close of October, traditionally observed as National Substance Abuse Prevention Month, Overland Recovery is outlining how adult college students who have started to struggle with alcohol or drugs can get outpatient treatment before their use escalates. The center is at 3415 Overland Ave in West Los Angeles, less than four miles from UCLA. In the 2024 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, as published by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, 2.3 million full-time college students ages 18 to 25 (25.0%) reported binge drinking in the past month.

Overland Recovery provides adults with treatment for alcohol addiction, along with care for addiction to cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl and other opioids, prescription drugs such as Xanax and Adderall, sex and gambling. Clients in addiction treatment are never combined with clients who come for mental health care. For a client who has depression or anxiety along with an alcohol or drug problem, clinicians treat both conditions under one integrated plan, because an untreated co-occurring condition raises the risk of relapse.

Overland's Partial Hospitalization Program, the more intensive of its two programs, meets six hours a day, five days a week. Clients move from PHP into the Intensive Outpatient Program or start at that level, where sessions run three hours a day on three to five days a week. Because both programs have morning, afternoon and evening tracks, a student can fit treatment around a class schedule and keep working. Treatment plans are completed within three days and updated weekly, and every client sees a psychiatrist in the first week.

Therapy at Overland includes CBT, DBT, ACT and EMDR, along with individual and group sessions and medication management. In CBT, clients learn coping skills for cravings, and those in the alcohol program also build a plan to prevent relapse. Clients keep one care team from PHP through weekly therapy. Case managers help with school, work and housing, and after clients finish, an alumni coordinator keeps supporting them. Adults who live outside West Los Angeles can join PHP and IOP groups by telehealth from anywhere in California or combine virtual and in-person sessions in a hybrid plan.

Overland Recovery is in-network with most major insurance plans, including Aetna, Beacon Health Options, Blue Cross of California, Blue Shield of California, Carelon, Cigna, ComPsych, Curative, Kaiser Permanente, Magellan Healthcare, Motion Picture Industry Health Plan (MPI), Optum, SAG-AFTRA, Tricare, TriWest, UMR, and UnitedHealthcare. A free same-day benefit check and CareCredit financing are also available. The admissions team takes calls at (310) 953-9924 at any hour of the day or night, and treatment can begin within 24 hours.
